About the event
Being included, and belonging, feels good.
This year's theme for International Women's Day 2023 is #crackingthecode: innovation for a gender equal future.
This year we will have a panel discussion featuring our speakers. The panel will be discussing issues relevant to us as South Asian and Brown Women. Our speakers will also be inspiring us by sharing their journey with us. The good, the bad and the ugly - nothing is off limits for them.
Sharon Khan - An Australian-Bengali Power Lifter. Weights aren’t just for the males. She is the inspiring force that reminds us that girls can be strong and beautiful!
Yashvi Shah - Defence lawyer, fashion designer and advocate to social justice. Yashvi is the only Jain Criminal Defence Lawyer in Australia and the only Female Gujarati Criminal Defence Lawyer in NSW, breaking stereotypes and overcoming racial, age and gender discrimination in legal practice.
Shivani Sharma - Litigator, Multiple business owner and mother. Who says we can’t do it all!
Mariam Moh - Entrepreneur, speaker and facilitator. She is the co-founder of Money Girl and Chief Diversity Officer at Super Fierce. She’s won multiple awards including being recognised in Australian Financial Review 100 Women of Influence list.
Swarnaa Rajalingam - Lifestyle, fashion and beauty creator who uses her platform to spark dialogue on various different topics such as: body image, colourism, mental health, abuse and normalising disabilities.
Additionally, there will be a South Asian Market, the BBB Bazaar, which will feature product based businesses owned and operated by South Asian Women!
In celebration of this years theme we are allowing for the first time ever, for men to attend our event. So feel free to bring your partner or friends to celebrate International Women's Day 2023. This is how we ourselves can bridge the gender divide gap.
